What To Wear

You might be wondering what to wear while horseback riding on Maui, especially if you are not experienced at horseback riding.

Never, ever, go riding in shorts.

It will be very uncomfortable for you, especially after 2 hours. Plan on packing a pair of long pants for your horseback riding experience. Also, flip flops or other open toed shoes are not safe around horses and will not be tolerated at most stables.

Bring a pair of sneakers or hiking boots to wear on your ride. It will keep your toes safe from being stepped on! T-shirts or tank tops are fine, but make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and bug spray is encouraged.

Most horseback riding places will (and should) require you to wear a helmet and even if it is optional, I would highly encourage it. Hats are frowned upon, as the helmet should be touching your head directly.

Don’t worry about buying any special clothes or equipment for your ride, any pair of jeans and sneakers will be just fine!
