Ironwood ranch in Lahaina, Maui offers beautiful trail rides through various Maui terrains. Ironwood ranch has been rated well according to “Best of Hawaii” magazine. The location of the ranch is a little off the beaten path—be prepared to take a shuttle  down a dirt road to access the private ranch.  The remote location means excellent riding terrains.

You will ride through old pineapple fields, forests, and valleys. The ride will appeal to both horse lovers and nature lovers! Their horses are calm but friendly, and the staff is quite knowledgeable. The guides will help you understand what you are seeing on the trail ride, while making sure everyone stays safe on horseback. The groups are small, averaging 6 people, so everyone will get plenty of attention.

There are several different trail rides to choose from. Children must be at least 7 years old to participate in any of the rides. Their “West Maui Journey” is about 1.5 hours and travels through various parts of the property, including beautiful valleys and forests. The “Sunset Ride” is a breathtaking experience on horseback. It takes about 2 hours. Ironwood’s “The Hawaiin Excursion” is a morning experience and takes about 2 hours.

They also offer the “Advanced Ironwood Odyssey”, which is their only ride which allows more experienced riders to trot and canter. Participants must be at least 18 for this ride. In addition, they do private excursions for couples or honeymooners.

Trail rides cost from $60-300 per person, depending on the excursion. The “Advanced Ironwood Odyssey” is the most expensive. They offer online booking, or call by phone.
