Maui stables is a very unique horseback riding experience in Maui. Take a ride through beautiful unspoiled land,
and learn about Hawaiin culture and tradition at the same time. Maui stables is run by native Hawaiin’s who are
eager to share their heritage through horseback riding.
Maui stables runs one trail ride a day. Each ride is accompanied by an “Alaka’I” (leader) and a “Kako’o”
(apprentice). They begin each tour with a traditional Hawaiin prayer and call to their ancestors. Hawaiin culture
was recorded primarily through oral chants, and your guides will rely on these chants to explore the history of the
island as you ride. A basic translation will be given, so everyone can understand. The scenery is breathtaking and
the ride is relaxing.
The trail ride runs once a day—check in time is 9:45 am and the ride lasts almost 4 hours. It is perfect for all
riding levels and they have just the right horse for everybody. The cost is $150 if you book online, and includes a
3 day pass to Haleakala National Park to swim in the "seven pools" or take a walk to Waimoku Falls. They suggest
bringing a bathing suit and towel, if you plan on visiting Haleakala National Park after riding. Age minimum
is 10 years old, but exceptions are made.
Because the stables are located in a remote area, they do not offer food, so bring a picnic lunch for afterwards
if you plan to stay!
